Roxanne:
Roxanne is the newest member of the WDJC family… a veteran of Birmingham radio. She has co-hosted morning shows, her own news/talk show, and has been an award-winning news director, covering local breaking news. She has also appeared on the Fox News Network, Turner Broadcasting, and co-hosted the Birmingham Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon. Roxanne served as a staff member at Church of the Highlands, where she currently leads the Samaritan Woman Ministry at The Birmingham Dream Center. She is a founding board member of the WellHouse Inc., a Christian non-profit emergency shelter for women escaping human trafficking and prostitution.
Roxanne is passionately in love with Jesus and so excited to be serving the Lord with Chris, mornings on WDJC! When she isn’t broadcasting, she is spending time with her daughter Hannah, and three dogs, reading, cooking, traveling, mural painting or watching movies and reality television.
Chris:
I was born and raised in the Birmingham area and became a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ while attending Camp Sumatanga as a 13 year old. From the moment I made the decision to follow Christ, I have burned with the passion to serve in ministry. That calling went through a lot of refining as I discovered what gifts and passions God had given me. After attending seminary, I realized that my call to ministry was not as an ordained pastor and was yet to be revealed. God began to unfold my passion for production and led me to assisting churches in their media production.
In 1994, God brought my wife Megan into my life. We met while serving as junior high counselors at Camp Sumatanga and continued to work in youth ministry at our church and at Sumatanga. God prepared the most perfect gift and helper for me when he created my Megan. We married in 2000 and have three amazing children! Reeves (9), our first born, continues to amaze us with a very obvious tender spirit. God’s fingerprints are all over that kid and we have many stories of God at work in his life. Lucy (7), our first girl is an “old soul” with wisdom beyond her years! God has gifted her with many of the gifts her mother has....she is a social butterfly with a passion to care for others. Greer (3), our baby girl, is full of life and loves BIG! She is the kind of kid who absolutely lights up a room with her spirit....to know her is to love her. Her laughter starts at her toes. I thank God every day for the gifts of fatherhood and a Christ- centered marriage...there is nothing like it!
Beginning in 2004, I was the television producer for The Rick and Bubba Show, aka Christopher Columbus. I directed and produced the daily live show on Turner Network and served as an on air personality. That is where I met Roxanne. The rest is history (and what I see now as the beginning of this very incredible radio partnership....in God's perfect timing). I left the show in 2010 to pursue my current venture in media and production.
As of the past few years, I own my own production company and brought on a partner as it continues to grow. Our business specializes in marketing and video production. In January of 2012, we will be launching an exciting product for small churches. Our family worships and serves at "a2 Church" in Vestavia Hills. If I am not coaching my son’s baseball and football team, dressing up in princess costumes with Greer, cooking with Lucy or studying God’s word, then I am more than likely watching the hit TV show 24 on my Iphone.....just ask my wife!
