Meet Chris Stevenson

Chris Stevenson has never been one to do things traditionally. At 19, with very little experience and no formal schooling in broadcasting, Chris walked into a radio studio unannounced and told the general manager he wanted to be on the radio. “The manager liked that I had some chutzpah and asked me to come back the next day to make a tape,” he recalls. “It was horrible! But he gave me some pointers and then he gave me a chance.”

Chris StevensonDuring his hours on the air, Chris strives to use the airwaves to reach others for Christ. “We say our show is about ‘Real People, Real Ministry,’” he says. “One of the things we do regularly we call Pay It Forward .

When he’s not on air, you can find Chris spending time at one of his daughter Annalise’s chess tournaments, basketball or volleyball games, watching movies with his family or entertaining with wife Silvia at home. “I want to have a strong presence in Annalise’s life and empower her to become the best version of herself,” he says of his daughter. “I hear all these stories about people who say their father never told them they were loved. I don’t want any part of that.”

Brand new for 2024 it’s Word & Worship with amazing bible teachers sprinkled throughout the day delivering powerful segments designed to help you in your daily walk with the Lord. If you’d like to hear YOUR pastor during Word & Worship, contact WDJC for more information!

God's mighty hand in paying it forward

We heard recently that a close family friend, Jeff, was in need of a kidney.  His brother Jason had donated a kidney to Jeff some eight years earlier, which worked well until a couple of years ago, when a tumor developed on Jason’s kidney.

Chris got Jason on the phone. The recording of Chris’s call to Jeff tells the whole story…

After that call aired on the April 21. 2024 edition of Sunday Word & Worship, listener Tracy called to say God had placed on her heart that someone needed a kidney and she should donate hers. She was listening to the heartfelt story and call from Jeff’s brother and responded to Chris immediately. Chris came back in studio and placed phone calls to both parties and aired the conversation between them. It was filled with joy and tears and these two are now beginning the process to determine if she is a match.

The story even got Fox 6's attention

Please pray for them and all parties. We always ask the Lord to do something that only He can do, and this is one of those moments—a miracle only God could coordinate.

PRAISE THE LORD!

Pay It Forward Detroit got its start in 2012 when Chris received a BP cash card in the mail along with a handwritten note saying to give it to caller 76 because someone needed it. Chris did just that and the caller’s story was very similar to the handwritten note he had received. “People got inspired and started sending me things to give away,” Chris says. “We bless people in the name of Jesus just because we can.”

Be sure to reach out via phone or email and tell us about your Pay It Forward stories, praise reports, song requests or anything else to make your Sunday just a little bit better and a little closer to Jesus on 93.7 WDJC, where faith comes to life!
